Ginny combines a career in teaching geography with writing academic and travel articles, which keeps her busy in the holidays but best of all impresses her students. Ginny started her writing career at Business Traveller magazine, during which she was awarded Young Travel Writer of the Year by travel news weekly, Travel Trade Gazette. She then took over editorship of the industry news website Travelmole and later joined The Times where she became Online Travel Editor and later Online Features Editor.
Ginny has written frequently about adventure travel, green travel and places to stay and loves travelling in the UK, South-east Asia and North America. On her wish list is the Swedish coast, more of Scotland’s islands and Japan.
Bored of cereal and a huge fan of brunches and avocado on toast (before it became fashionable), she also edited a blog about breakfast for six years. She has written for The Times and The Independent about both travel and breakfast and has contributed to Red magazine, Trip magazine, Conference and Incentive Travel magazine, Bmibaby’s in-flight magazine, Buzz.com, First Forum magazine, ABTA Travelspirit magazine, Meet Britain magazine, Travel Weekly, Travel Trade Gazette and Geography Review.
Ginny managed Twitter feeds for The Times, moderated online and live debates, produced a number of videos about the world of travel for The Times, the most viewed of which was ‘how to pack a suitcase’, which still gets dug up by her students every year. She also appeared on BBC News, Radio 5 Live and was the travel correspondent for some years for BA Highlife’s inflight radio.
